The six members were picked in November 2023 on the live finale of *Dream Academy*, a competition series that Billboard reports drew about 120,000 applicants. The members are Sophia, from Manila; Manon, from Zurich; Daniela, Lara and Megan, who grew up in the United States; and Yoonchae, from Seoul. The Netflix documentary *Pop Star Academy* followed how the group was made. They released their first single, "Debut", in June 2024 and the EP *SIS (Soft Is Strong)* that August. "Gnarly" became their first Billboard Hot 100 entry in May 2025, after clips of the performance spread online, and "Gabriela" followed it onto the chart. At the 2026 Grammy Awards they were nominated for Best New Artist and for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with "Gabriela", and they performed on the night. In August 2026, Billboard reports, their third EP, *WILD*, became their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. For Manila, the reason this one is different is Sophia Laforteza. She is the group's leader and its Filipina member, born and raised here, and the daughter of musical theatre actress Carla Guevara Laforteza and chef Godfrey Laforteza. The songs most people here will know: - **"Gnarly"**, the viral single that closes every show on this tour - **"Gabriela"**, their Grammy-nominated song - **"Touch"**, which was climbing the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 when they visited in 2024 - **"Debut"**, their first single - **"Pinky Up"** and **"Hootie Frutti"**, from *WILD* ## Will Sophia be there? This is the question every Filipino fan is asking, so here is exactly what has been said. Manon has been on a break from the group since February 2026, and Sophia stepped back in August 2026 to look after her health. Both missed the European and North American dates of this tour. On 8 October 2026, HYBE x Geffen said: > "We are happy to share that Sophia will resume group activities with KATSEYE beginning the first week of January 2027." The Manila show is on 29 January, after that date. But neither Live Nation Philippines nor the label has said who will be on stage in Manila. We will update this page when the Manila lineup is confirmed. No update on Manon had been given by 30 October. ## KATSEYE and Manila KATSEYE came to the Philippines from 17 to 19 September 2024, their first visit as a group. BusinessWorld reported it was the group's first time in Manila, and Sophia's first time home in three years, since the group trains and works in Los Angeles. In those three days they held a media conference, sang "Touch" on the Wish Bus, appeared on *It's Showtime*, and played the fan showcase "KATSEYE: Touchdown in Manila" at Ayala Malls Market! Market! in Taguig on 18 September. GMA reported that they performed "Debut", "My Way" and "Touch" there, to a packed mall. GMA says that visit was their last one here, so January is their first arena concert in the Philippines. ## What they have said about coming Live Nation Philippines announced the shows on 29 October 2026 with: > "GET READY EYEKONS!! 🩷 KATSEYE is heading your way for THE WILDWORLD TOUR!" Before the 2024 showcase, Rappler reported that Sophia called performing at home "an honor" and a "dream come true", and that in a handwritten note she said she was excited to "eat home-cooked food and fulfill my dream of performing at home." When her return was announced in October 2026, she wrote on Instagram, as quoted by Variety: > "I can't wait to share the stage with my sisters again and look out to all of you!" ## What they have been playing Nobody can promise a setlist, and the Asia dates are three months away. Manila's times have not been announced, so treat that only as a rough shape of the night. ## Getting there and back The show is on a Friday night, the heaviest traffic night of the week into Pasay. Leave earlier than you think, and plan your ride home before the show ends, when the whole arena leaves at once. Our [MOA Arena concert guide](https://whatsonmnl.com/blog/moa-arena-concert-guide) covers how to get to the arena and how to get home after. ## Questions people ask **When and where is KATSEYE in Manila?** Friday, 29 January 2027, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
