*In Makati for a few nights? Where to walk or swim, eat alone without fuss, have a proper drink, catch a concert and find a bar still open after midnight, most of it close to the Ayala hotels.*

If you are in Makati for work and staying near Ayala Avenue, the best things to do after work are a walk or run around Ayala Triangle Gardens (open until 10pm), a bowl of ramen at Mendokoro Ramenba in Salcedo Village, a drink at the Long Bar in Raffles Makati or The Lobby at The Peninsula, and a later round in Poblacion at Run Rabbit Run, which stays open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Most of this is a short walk from the hotels around the Ayala Triangle. Poblacion and Circuit Makati are a short car ride.

Updated October 2026.

This list is for someone in town for a few nights who finishes late, may be eating alone, and wants something better than the hotel minibar. It is grouped by what you might want at the end of the day: some air, dinner, a drink, a night out at a concert, and somewhere still open after midnight.

## A walk, a run or a workout

**[Ayala Triangle Gardens](https://whatsonmnl.com/place/ayala-triangle-gardens)** is the green wedge between Ayala Avenue, Paseo de Roxas and Makati Avenue, right in the middle of the business district. It covers more than 20,000 square metres and has over a hundred trees, including rain trees and golden palms, with public art along the paths. After a day indoors it is the easiest place nearby to walk, stretch or do a few slow laps, and there are restaurants around its edges if you want to eat outside afterwards.

Ayala Triangle, Makati. Open 6am to 10pm.

**The Peninsula Fitness Center and Spa** is worth knowing if you are staying at The Peninsula Manila, on the corner of Ayala and Makati Avenues. The gym and the outdoor pool are on the ground floor of the Makati Tower, so a swim after a long day is easy.

The Peninsula Manila, Makati Tower ground floor. Gym and outdoor pool open daily, 6am to 10pm.

If you would rather train with other people, our guides to [running clubs in Manila](https://whatsonmnl.com/blog/running-clubs-manila) and [where to train in Manila](https://whatsonmnl.com/blog/where-to-train-in-manila) list groups and gyms you can join for a single session.

## Dinner on your own

**Mendokoro Ramenba** in Salcedo Village is the easy answer for a good dinner alone. Ramen is a meal built for one, it comes quickly, and the late closing time helps when meetings run over.

G/F V. Corporate Centre Building, Soliman Street, Salcedo Village, Makati. Open 10am to 11pm.

**Spices** at The Peninsula serves Southeast Asian cooking, with Indian dishes too, and in the cooler months you can eat outside in the evening. It is a calm, unfussy place for a table for one if you are staying in the area.

The Peninsula Manila, ground floor, Makati Tower. Lunch 11am to 2pm, dinner 6pm to 10pm.

**Nikkei Robata** in Greenbelt 3 is part of the Nikkei group, which cooks Japanese and Peruvian food together. Greenbelt is the mall and garden complex a few minutes' walk from the Ayala hotels, so this works well if you also want to pick up something you forgot to pack.

Second floor, Greenbelt 3, Makati. Sunday to Thursday 11am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 11am to 10pm.

**[The Lobby at The Peninsula Manila](https://whatsonmnl.com/place/the-peninsula-manila-lobby)** is the hotel's big atrium under the "Sunburst" sculpture. It serves food from breakfast to late evening, so you can eat a full dinner on your own here without it feeling odd. There is live music in the afternoon, and afternoon tea if you finish early.

Corner of Ayala and Makati Avenues. Open 7am to 11pm. Afternoon tea daily 2:30pm to 5pm; live music 2pm to 8pm.

## A drink after work

**The Long Bar at Raffles Makati** is styled after the original Long Bar at Raffles Singapore, where the Singapore Sling was created. The Makati version of the drink, the Makati Luxury Sling, is made with 24-karat gold flakes. There is a long counter, so sitting alone at the bar is normal, and there is live music most nights: a solo act or trio from Tuesday to Thursday, and a full band on Friday and Saturday.

1st Floor Lobby, Raffles Makati, 1 Raffles Drive, Makati Avenue. Sunday to Thursday 5pm to midnight; Friday and Saturday 5pm to 1am. Live music 8pm to 11pm Tuesday to Thursday, 8pm to midnight Friday and Saturday.

**The Lobby at The Peninsula** also works for a quieter drink, especially if you need somewhere to meet a colleague. You can hear the person across the table, which is not true of every bar in Makati. The Peninsula recommends smart casual in The Lobby and its restaurants.

## A concert

**[Samsung Performing Arts Theater](https://whatsonmnl.com/venue/samsung-performing-arts-theater)** is a 1,520-seat theatre inside Circuit Makati, run by Ayala Land. It is the easiest place in Makati to see a proper show on a weeknight. The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra plays several concerts of its new season here, including [Concert III: Bolero](https://whatsonmnl.com/event/ppo-concert-iii-bolero-2026) on 6 November, with Ravel's Bolero and Saint-Saëns' Violin Concerto No. 3 played by Filipino violinist Kaycee Galano, and [Concert IV: Destiny](https://whatsonmnl.com/event/ppo-concert-iv-destiny-2026) on 4 December, with Italian pianist Mario Galeani playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4.

Hippodromo Street, Circuit Makati. Tickets through Ticketworld online or at its outlet on the theatre's ground floor, open daily 11am to 8pm; the theatre box office opens on performance days. ## Open late

**[Run Rabbit Run](https://whatsonmnl.com/place/run-rabbit-run)** has made cocktails in Manila since 2018 and now works from a room in Six Axis Center in Poblacion. The drinks lean on fresh ingredients, spice and herbs. It is a good second stop after dinner, and the latest on this list.

Ground Floor, Six Axis Building, 4347 B. Valdez Street, Poblacion, Makati. Monday to Thursday 6pm to 1am; Friday and Saturday 6pm to 3am.

**[OTO](https://whatsonmnl.com/place/oto)** is a Poblacion bar built around music, with a DJ or guest selector on most nights from Wednesday to Saturday. It opens in the afternoon, so you can come straight from the office and stay on. Reservations are by Instagram message.

5883 Enriquez Street, Poblacion, Makati. Tuesday to Sunday 2pm to 1am.

Poblacion is the old town centre next to the business district, and it has the most bars within a few streets of each other. Our guide to the [best bars in Poblacion](https://whatsonmnl.com/blog/best-bars-in-poblacion) covers the rest, and [late-night food in Manila](https://whatsonmnl.com/blog/late-night-food-in-manila) covers where to eat after midnight.
