Rodic's started in 1949 and is best known for one plate: tapsilog, beef tapa ground so fine it flakes, glazed sweet, over garlic rice with a fried egg. Generations of University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman students grew up on it at the campus Shopping Center.

The Maginhawa branch puts that same plate on the eat street itself, from early morning, which makes it the simplest way to start a day on Maginhawa.

## Why go

1. The tapsilog UP Diliman students have eaten for decades
2. Opens at 7am, so it works for breakfast before the cafes open
3. Cheap, fast and filling
4. A douse of vinegar cuts the sweet glaze
