Opening day: how to get a seat
Christmas Day is a Friday this year, so the first weekend runs straight into the awards night on Sunday 27 December. Plan for crowds on those three days.
- Book as soon as showtimes go up. Use your cinema's own app or website, and pick your seat before you leave home.
- Go early. The first screening of the day is usually the easiest to get into on 25 and 26 December.
- Pick a weekday. Monday 28 December onwards is a better bet than the opening weekend, and the festival runs until Thursday 7 January.
- Check the rating before you take the kids. Look up each film's MTRCB rating before you book. Haunted Carnival is a horror film.
- Wait for the winners if you can only see one. Awards night is 27 December, so the winners are known with eleven days of the run still to go.
The Parade of Stars
The Metro Manila parade on Saturday 19 December starts on San Francisco Street in Mandaluyong, loops through Boni Avenue, Barangka Drive and General Kalentong, then crosses into San Juan along F. Manalo, N. Domingo and A. Paterno before ending at the Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine, according to the route presented by Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos and reported by DZRH. The start time and road closures had not been announced when we checked. Our Parade of Stars 2026 listing has the full route and the nearest train stations.
Bacolod holds its own parade a week earlier, on Saturday 12 December, alongside the Batang Pinoy games, from Robinsons Bacolod on Lacson Street to the Bacolod City Government Center.
