The Manila American Cemetery covers 152 acres of lawn and old trees off McKinley Road in Taguig, kept by the American Battle Monuments Commission. It holds 16,859 graves from the Second World War, and the memorial tablets carry the names of 36,286 missing. The towers of Bonifacio Global City rise behind the rows of white crosses, and mosaic maps at the memorial trace the Pacific campaigns. Entry is free and needs no booking, but bring a valid photo ID, the gate asks for it. Gates open at 9am and last admission is 4:45pm, with the flag lowered fifteen minutes before closing. The visitor centre, opened in 2019, runs free guided tours. Closed 25 December and 1 January.
