About this event

Ballet Manila stages the country's first full-length Paquita, the nineteenth-century classical ballet about a young Romani woman who discovers her noble birth after saving a French officer from an assassination plot. Founder and prima ballerina Lisa Macuja Elizalde directs the production as the centerpiece of the company's PRIMA Performance Season, in her fortieth year of building Filipino ballet, with two alternating principal pairs leading a forty-member company. A full-length Paquita is rarely mounted anywhere, so for anyone who follows classical dance this premiere is worth crossing town for. Three performances run at the Aliw Theater in the CCP Complex in Pasay: Friday June 19 at 8:00 PM, then Saturday and Sunday at 5:00 PM. Book ahead through TicketWorld, as a national first will draw a full house.
