- Tip off times and ticketing are announced by the UAAP closer to the date, usually through SM Tickets and the member schools. The arena sits inside the Mall of Asia complex, so arrive by train to Taft and take a jeepney or ride hail rather than driving into the mall car parks.
About this event
Opening day gathers all eight member universities in one arena for the ceremony that starts the collegiate sporting year, followed by the first basketball games of the season. Far Eastern University hosts Season 89 under the theme For Everyone. Student blocks, brass bands and cheer squads fill the upper tiers long before the first ball goes up. It is the single best introduction to how university sport works in Manila.
