Specialty Coffee in Legazpi and Salcedo

Nine cafes in Makati's two business villages where the coffee is the point, from Yardstick's flagship on Esteban Street to a Japanese coffee cube in Salcedo, with hours, prices and what to order.

By What's On Manila editors

The best specialty coffee in Legazpi Village is at Yardstick Coffee on Esteban Street, the roaster's flagship and the only Philippine cafe on The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops list for 2026. In Salcedo Village, go to Habitual Coffee for AeroPress and filter brews, or Omotesando Koffee for Japanese-style espresso in a quiet room. For something newer, try Papakape and House Blend by Simeon in Legazpi, and for a late cup, Odd Cafe in Salcedo is open until 11pm.

Updated October 2026.

Legazpi and Salcedo are Makati's two business villages, a short walk apart across Ayala Avenue, and between them they hold some of the most serious coffee in Makati. Every cafe below was open as of this update, checked against its own website or a 2026 source. We leave out the chains and stick to places where the coffee is the reason to go. If you need a desk for the day, see the best cafes to work from in Manila.

For coffee people

Yardstick Coffee roasts its own coffee, and the Legazpi Village room is the flagship: concrete counters, long wooden tables and a Bean Shop for beans and brewing gear. Single origin filters start at ₱220, a flat white is ₱180, and the Taster Flight (₱280) puts a hot brew, a cold brew and an espresso side by side. For a sit-down tasting, book a seat at the Flavor Bar on the Yardstick website. The kitchen is being renovated, so come for coffee rather than brunch for now. Yardstick also runs a second cafe at 107 Aguirre Street in Legazpi, and a bar inside Cartel Deli on L.P. Leviste Street in Salcedo. Universal LMS Building, 106 Esteban Street, Legazpi Village. ₱₱. Daily, 7am to 8pm. Tip: weekday mornings are the easy time to get a seat.

Habitual Coffee on L.P. Leviste Street is the Salcedo cafe serious coffee drinkers go to. It is known for its AeroPress brews, the Super Special Flat White and a Frozen Flat White, and the kitchen does breakfast and lunch plates like the Bacon Bowl and Steak and Egg. There is wifi and sockets, and it opens at 7am on weekends. Paseo Heights, L.P. Leviste Street, Salcedo Village. ₱₱. Weekdays 8am to 7pm, weekends 7am to 7pm. Good to know: it is a short walk from the Saturday market.

For a quiet, precise cup

Omotesando Koffee is the Tokyo coffee brand's second Manila branch. The baristas work inside a wooden coffee cube in the middle of the room, so you watch every espresso being made. The room is calm, with an outlet at every table, and the iced latte, shaken until it has a thick layer of foam, is the drink to order. It is a place to sit down, not a takeaway counter. Ground floor, Somerset Valero, 160 Valero Street corner Villar Street, Salcedo Village. Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm, Saturday and Sunday 7am to 4pm. Good to know: it closes early on weekends.

For something new in Legazpi

Papakape began as a father and son coffee hut in a Makati garage, and its Legazpi Street branch opened in June 2026 dressed like a 1970s hotel lobby, with red carpet, capiz shell lamps and a curved seat borrowed from the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The Kapitan (₱280), a latte with rum, mandarin orange and raisins named after the old Mandarin Oriental's Captain's Bar, is only served here. Manila Prosperity Bankers Tower, 110 Legazpi Street, Legazpi Village. ₱₱. Monday to Thursday 7am to 9pm, Friday to Sunday 7am to 10pm. Tip: try one of the frozen leche flan desserts, a first for Papakape.

House Blend by Simeon is a coffee bar inside the Simeon Home furniture showroom, so you drink your coffee on sofas that are for sale. The beans come from Bicol, where the owner's family is from, and the Pili Montblanc (₱270), espresso with pili, macadamia and cream, is the one to order. The room is small and warm, better for a catch-up than a day of work. One Salcedo Center, 170 Salcedo Street, Legazpi Village. ₱₱. Tuesday to Sunday, closed Monday. Good to know: weekend afternoons get crowded, so go on a weekday.

For a late cup or a working afternoon

Odd Cafe is a plant-based coffee bar on the seventh floor of the Finman Centre, with bare concrete, neon and a wavy mirror. Single origin espresso goes into oat, soy or almond milk, and oat costs nothing extra. It has free wifi, welcomes pets and stays open until 11pm. Order the French Kiss, espresso with vanilla and cinnamon. 7th floor, Finman Centre, 131 Tordesillas Street, Salcedo Village. 8am to 11pm. Tip: the kitchen opens around 9:30am, so early visits are drinks only.

The Black Bean on Salcedo Street in Legazpi Village pulls specialty espresso until midnight every day, in a concrete room with outlets throughout and wifi. It gets chatty at lunch, so come mid-morning or late afternoon. Cattleya Condominium, Salcedo Street, Legazpi Village. ₱₱. Daily, 7am to midnight. Good to know: the lunch rush peaks around 2pm.

Bad Cafe in Windsor Tower pairs careful pourovers with comfort food like pasta, sandwiches and lunch bowls, and it is one of the easier rooms in Legazpi to work from. Windsor Tower, 163 Legazpi Street, Legazpi Village. ₱₱. Sunday to Thursday 8am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 8am to 10pm.

Coffee by day, cocktails by night

The Curator on Legazpi Street is a specialty coffee bar from 7am, and from the evening the room at the back becomes one of the country's best known cocktail bars. In the daytime, order the Banana Latte (₱210) or the Shake-O-What-O (₱170), espresso with coconut. 134 Legazpi Street corner C. Palanca Street, Legazpi Village. ₱₱. Coffee daily from 7am; bar Tuesday to Sunday from 5:30pm. Good to know: there is no bar on Monday. For the night side, see our guide to bars in Makati outside Poblacion.
