Mirèio is the French brasserie on the ninth floor of Raffles Makati. Nine floors is not a rooftop, but the tall windows look straight over the Makati skyline and the room is calm enough to talk. Encima Roofdeck Restaurant is the date you can plan to the peso. It is the Tex-Mex restaurant on the top floor of City Garden Hotel Makati, and its Couple Dinner Set is four courses for two at ₱3,000 nett. The hotel adds no service charge and the valet is free. The Penthouse 8747 has been on top of the Lepanto Building on Paseo de Roxas since 2016. The Art Deco room has green velvet booths and gold screens, and the terrace looks down on Ayala Triangle Gardens. The menu is a full dinner: crab cakes from ₱260, torched wagyu with foie gras from ₱500, and a 450g rib-eye at ₱2,500. For a casual sunset dinner

Firefly Roofdeck is the easiest high view to walk into. It is on the 32nd floor of City Garden Grand Hotel at the corner of Makati Avenue and Kalayaan, open from 7am to 1:30am, and walk-ins are welcome. O2 Rooftop Bar is on the 27th floor penthouse of Brittany Hotel BGC, with indoor, covered and open-air seating looking over BGC toward Laguna de Bay. It is a bar first, with a comfort food menu of flatbreads, pasta and burgers, so treat it as a light sunset dinner. • Sunset. In October the sun sets around 5:30pm. Book for 5:30pm if the light is the point, and ask for a window or railing table when you call.
